Here are two ways a health tech marketer and a health systems marketer can put the Hospital Data Explorer to work.
1. Case study: The health tech marketer identifies a launch region
A health tech marketer has a product ready for launch. Where to start? Which state would provide the best entry market for a new product among hospitals? The Hospital Data Explorer reveals that Florida is dominated by hard-to-penetrate large hospital systems. California is dominated by easier-to-penetrate medium and small hospitals, yet the state’s regulatory climate discourages the marketer. Texas, however, reveals the Explorer, is home to a large cohort of small and medium independent hospitals‚Äîthe ideal landscape in which to staff a sales team, launch the product, and create the case studies that would help rollout marketing in other regions.
2. Case study: The health systems marketer researches competitors
As a marketer for a small hospital in Indianapolis, the health systems marketer seeks to understand which hospitals in the region are their direct competitors. Using the zip code function in the Explorer, they identify hospitals with a similar bed count in each neighborhood of the city. With that date-based comparative set, they can now study the marketing campaigns of their direct competitors to identify the differentiators that make their own hospital stand out. Planning for a new B2C campaign can then begin on solid ground.
